Follow the journey
of sea turtlesThe path of some sea turtles can be tracked thanks to a satellite signal transmitter located on their shell. This device is usually placed on some of the head-starting turtles, in order to follow their route and learn about the areas where they develop their life in the sea.Follow them on the map!Head-starting Turtles
Satellite tagging is carried out on hatchlings from nests on the Spanish coasts between 2021 and 2023, raised in head-starting programs. The objective is to obtain information about this stage of life to improve the conservation of the species.
The satellite tagging is part of the LIFE IP INTEMARES project (LIFE 15 IPE ES 012) “Integrated, innovative and participatory management of the Natura 2000 Network in the Spanish marine environment", coordinated by the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge.NEST VALENCIA
