Pillars Programs of Conservation

Professional Training and Knowledge Transfer

Strengthening capacities and collaborations around the world to protect marine fauna

Our knowledge is shared nationally with entities such as the Ministry of Ecological Transition and internationally, collaborating closely with conservation teams in countries such as Pakistan, Colombia, India, and Thailand.

We collaborate in the creation of stranding networks and recovery centers in places such as the Galapagos Islands and Cape Verde, in matters such as technical advice and logistical support to strengthen conservation programs in different parts of the world.

Lines

  • National collaboration

We establish key alliances with institutions such as the Ministry of the Environment, the Government of the Region of Murcia, the Government of Cantabria, and Equinac, working together to achieve a significant impact on the conservation and protection of marine fauna.

  • Public aquariums as platforms for the recovery of sea turtles in the Western Mediterranean (LIFE)

Following the successful model of the ARCA del Mar, we are working to replicate this model in marine centers in different countries of the western Mediterranean region, such as Portugal, Spain, France, and Italy.

The focus is on improving veterinary capacity, offering training and courses, promoting the participation of local groups related to the marine environment, such as fishermen, and carrying out outreach and awareness campaigns, especially focused on the conservation of sea turtles.

The goal is to develop joint strategies that strengthen the conservation plans for these species throughout the region.

  • International collaboration

As at the national level, key strategies are established internationally, such as the collaboration program with Cape Verde; with the Tiputini Reserve (Amazon) together with the San Francisco de Quito University (USFQ); with Pakistan for the protection of the Indus River dolphin; with the Government of Thailand for the protection of sea turtles and cetaceans; with the Government of India for the protection of the Ganges River dolphin and dugongs; and with Yacupacha (Argentina) for the protection of the Amazon river dolphin and the Franciscana dolphin.
