The Oceanogràfic Foundation was created to reinforce and expand the Oceanogràfic’s work in protecting the marine environment. Our commitment lies in providing new knowledge, informing and raising awareness in society to improve the conservation of species and their natural habitat.

Until 2024, the Oceanogràfic Foundation has cared for more than 800 stranded and injured sea turtles on the Valencian coasts.

One of the flagship projects of the Oceanogràfic Foundation is focused on the conservation of sea turtles, threatened species such as the loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta).

The programs at our Recovery Center also generate great media impact, providing opportunities to spread the message of marine conservation.

We carry out the release of adult and newborn turtles in inclusive events with schoolchildren, city councils, NGOs, companies, and centers that sponsor the turtles.

These actions not only fulfill the objective of caring for and recovering the turtles, but also raise awareness among society about the challenges these species face.

Witnessing the return to the sea of recovered turtles and participating in their life cycle becomes a fundamental tool to transmit their survival story and promote their protection.

We carry out outreach activities, awareness campaigns on beaches, monitoring of animals through satellite technology, and specific educational workshops.

The ARCA del Mar, with 210m2 of surface area, is a national benchmark in the recovery of turtles.
