Shark Handling and Maintenance Course

The Oceanogràfic’s Shark Course offers a clear and practical introduction to the world of elasmobranchs: biology and anatomy, ecology and behavior, diversity of species (with attention to those present in the Mediterranean), and current threats such as overfishing, bycatch, and habitat loss. It combines theoretical sessions (identification, study methods, conservation, and legal framework) with practical activities guided by the technical team (observation and interpretation in the aquarium, case studies, and animal welfare protocols), fostering critical thinking and participation. Its objective is for students to understand the key role of sharks in marine ecosystems and to learn about specific conservation actions promoted by the Oceanogràfic and its allies.
