Release of Hatchlings in Benidorm

The Oceanogràfic Foundation is developing a head-starting program that involves temporarily housing loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) hatchlings born on the beaches of the Valencian Community during the summer. These newborns remain under specialized care in our facilities during their first months of life, a critical stage in which their vulnerability is very high. Thanks to this support, the turtles reach a larger size and strength before being returned to the sea, thus increasing their chances of survival in the wild.

As part of this program, the release of the hatchlings born on the beach of Benidorm will take place, a very special moment that symbolizes the return to the sea of these small turtles after having overcome their most delicate phase under the care of the Oceanogràfic Foundation.
