Oceanogràfic Foundation's commitment to biodiversity
The Oceanogràfic Foundation was created with the mission of reinforcing and amplifying the work of the Oceanogràfic of Valencia in the protection of the marine environment. Our commitment is focused on providing new knowledge, improving the care and well-being of animals, and informing and raising awareness among society to contribute to the conservation of species and their natural habitat.
Our pillars of work

Programs of Conservation
Direct actions for the preservation of ecosystems
We carry out direct actions that affect the health of wild species populations and the natural environment.
From the rescue and recovery of vulnerable species to habitat monitoring to restore and protect damaged areas; we work with scientific knowledge and available resources to improve management strategies and mitigate environmental impacts.

Programs of Research
Researching to conserve
Scientific research in the conservation of the marine environment is crucial to understanding and protecting our environment. We not only focus on the species in our center, but also on the wild animals and ecosystems that require greater knowledge for their protection and recovery.
Our research program, the Marine Animal Research (MAR), led by Dr. Andreas Fahlman, seeks to improve the scientific understanding of the oceans and the life that inhabits them.
We collaborate with research centers around the world to address the unknowns that marine biodiversity still holds.

Programs of Outreach-Education
Sharing knowledge to move to action
We bring knowledge about our natural heritage closer to society through awareness campaigns, environmental education, scientific dissemination and social responsibility.
We seek to increase the understanding of species, their habitats and threats, fostering a collective change of habits to preserve our environment. All these actions are based on the scientific knowledge that we have acquired over the years and on the resources offered by the Oceanogràfic of Valencia, in order to improve management strategies and mitigate the impacts that threaten our natural environment; always taking into account the cultural and administrative aspects related to these actions.

Total commitment to the conservation of the Environment
Through the generation of knowledge, direct action, and the creation of experiences, we seek to promote respectful attitudes towards marine ecosystems throughout society.
Animal welfare is fundamental to us and the foundation that sustains us.
We have knowledge, experience, and institutional collaborations to care for and ensure animal welfare in both controlled and natural environments.
Our accreditation by recognized associations supports our commitment to animal welfare, obtaining accreditation from renowned external audits, such as the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) and the European Association of Zoos & Aquariums (EAZA).
Mission
Connect society with the marine world and promote the conservation of biodiversity through its study, direct action, and awareness.
