{"id":5806,"date":"2017-07-25T12:32:12","date_gmt":"2017-07-25T10:32:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fundacionoceanografic.org\/blog\/oceanografic-foundation-and-red-cross-conclude-campaign-in-nules-to-raise-awareness-about-dolphin-and-turtle-strandings\/"},"modified":"2025-10-08T18:14:50","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T16:14:50","slug":"oceanografic-foundation-and-red-cross-conclude-campaign-in-nules-to-raise-awareness-about-dolphin-and-turtle-strandings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fundacionoceanografic.org\/en\/oceanografic-foundation-and-red-cross-conclude-campaign-in-nules-to-raise-awareness-about-dolphin-and-turtle-strandings\/","title":{"rendered":"Oceanogr\u00e0fic Foundation and Red Cross Conclude Campaign in Nules to Raise Awareness about Dolphin and Turtle Strandings"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><strong>The mayor, David Garc\u00eda, and the Councilor for Tourism and Beaches, Mar\u00eda Jes\u00fas Gabald\u00f3n, attended the simulation.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Last Sunday, Les Marines beach in Nules was the setting for the presentation of the latest awareness campaign on marine animal strandings, carried out by the Oceanogr\u00e0fic Foundation and the Spanish Red Cross CV along the coasts of the Valencian Community.<\/p>\n<p>The activity, which is part of the first summer awareness campaign on strandings, aims to make the public aware of the threats posed by humans to the oceans and how to behave when faced with a stranded animal on the beach.<\/p>\n<p>Specialists from both entities carried out intervention simulations with turtles and cetaceans, providing relevant advice such as not overwhelming the animal, keeping it moist, not covering the dolphins&#8217; blowhole, and notifying the Red Cross or calling 112, which will activate the resources of the Stranding Network, composed of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Territory and Environment, the University of Valencia, and the Oceanogr\u00e0fic itself.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, biological samples were explained and exhibited to all bathers on the beach of the Castell\u00f3n municipality in an ad hoc tent.<\/p>\n<p>The mayor of Nules, David Garc\u00eda, and the Councilor for Tourism and Beaches of the city council, Mar\u00eda Jes\u00fas Gabald\u00f3n, also attended the event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>First awareness campaign<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The awareness events that have toured the beaches of the three Valencian provinces began in Gandia, followed by Oliva, Guardamar del Segura, X\u00e0bia, Alcossebre, and now conclude in Nules.
