The educational release of a sea turtle, aimed at the Oceanogràfic Foundation’s volunteers, is an act of gratitude for their dedication and, at the same time, a formative experience that connects conservation with real-world practice. Furthermore, the activity coincides with the Volunteer Day, which we expressly celebrate. During the day, we review turtle biology, the threats they face, and best practices on the beach, culminating in the return to the sea of a specimen recovered and rehabilitated in the ARCA del Mar of the Oceanogràfic, within the rescue and animal welfare programs. The release allows us to understand the complete process—notification, veterinary care, recovery, and reintroduction—and reinforces the role of volunteering as an ambassador for conservation, promoting commitment, environmental responsibility, and community work.
